Jay's Bio

Birthplace- New Jersey. He was 8 years old when he saw Elvis on Television and learned guitar. Then he went on to learn the saxophone.

He grew up listening to Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and others on WNEW & NY Radio.

He moved to Florida while in high school and played guitar and sax for the Shangri-La's, Del Shannon, Joey Dee, Bobby Rydell and others.

He graduated from the Berklee College of Music, studied saxophone with Charlie Mariano and Joe Viola.

He went on the road as vocalist and guitarist with The Glenn Miller Orchestra with Buddy DeFranco as leader.
He's worked as studio musician in L.A. and Nashville where he now resides.

He is Crystal Gayle's Music Director and band leader and plays saxophone, mandolin, and guitar. He has conducted over fifty symphony orchestras including the Chicago Symphony and the Philadelphia Pops.

He has recorded for Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Kathy Mattea and many more.

He's won NARAS "Super Picker Award" for studio excellence.

He has 4 solo albums - "Black Hat & Saxophone", "Standard Blue", "Impressions of Christmas" and currently "All In Blue Time" which features special guest - Buddy DeFranco.
